Position Summary
The University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM) educates aspiring physicians to be justice-minded, global citizens using a community-based, distributed model of education, which fosters inclusion, discovery, and innovation.

The UIWSOM invites applications for Small Interactive Groups (SIGS) facilitators. Small Group Interactive Sessions (SIGS) are a cornerstone of the first two years of UIWSOM's Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) curriculum. During the first two years, learners meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings in small groups along with a faculty process facilitator.

Faculty facilitators guide and evaluate the SIGS process. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to adult learning principles and student-centered learning. In addition, the applicant must successfully complete the SIGS facilitator training program.

Essential Functions
  • Guide and evaluate learners in the SIGS process.
  • Strong commitment to adult learning principles to include student-centered learning.
  • Attend SIGS facilitator debriefs.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission, vision, and guiding principles of UIWSOM.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with administration, staff, peers, faculty, and community-based partners.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, and motivation to learn and contribute to the growth and development of UIWSOM.
  • Strong collaboration, team building, problem solving skills, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education
Master’s degree in any education or health profession field.

Required Work Experience
Evidence of effective interpersonal, organizational, team-building, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in small group facilitation.Doctoral level or terminal degree in any field.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
None specified.

Work Hours
Must be available to work 8-10 hours per week.Monday-Wednesday-Friday mornings.
