DeVry College of New York in Manhattan seeks to welcome new Part Time Visiting Professors to our rapidly expanding degree programs to instruct graduate courses in Network and Communications Management. We are interested in developing long-term relationships with superior faculty who have high professional standards, excellent communication skills, enthusiasm and a commitment to providing the finest practitioner-focused education.

 

The typical course of instruction may include:

 

Strategic Management of Technology (NETW583)

This course addresses the need for managers to understand and manage technology needed to successfully compete in an increasingly sophisticated business environment. Topics include identifying technological competencies, the evolution of technology, designing and managing systems for technological innovation, integrating technology into the organization, sourcing technology and managing new product development.

 

Network Design and Management (NETW585)

This course focuses on technologies and processes used to design, optimize and manage networks. Topics include functions of network standards, protocols and architecture; network design and optimization processes; and network management. Topics also include network design requirements for support of high bandwidth multimedia applications, wireless local area connections and security strategies. Students use a networking software tool to build and simulate network models.

 

Wireless Communication Systems (NETW589)

This course provides an essential foundation in core wireless technologies. Topics provide managers with required knowledge of voice and data systems. The current wireless industry, its recent past and emerging systems are explored through real-world projects and practitioner-based case studies.

 

IP Telephony/VoIP (NETW590)

This course examines technologies that carry voice communications over an IP network, including digitization and packetization of voice streams. Coursework addresses VoIP standards and protocols such as SIP and H.323 that support creation of telephony systems using advanced VoIP technology applications. Fundamentals of VoIP such as QoS, traffic aggregation issues, bandwidth management and network assessment are also investigated.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance student engagement through collaboration with colleagues who provide academic and professional guidance
  • Promote student success by demonstrating a flexible style and exhibit a passion for teaching by devoting time and energy to develop scholarly excellence
  • Engage with a diverse student body comprised of a variety of ages, cultural backgrounds, ethnicities and academic preparation using a variety of platforms and technology
  • Foster a positive learning environment by keeping accurate records, submitting grades on time, and enforcing academic and attendance policies



You are encouraged to explore this opportunity if you meet the following:

  • A PhD in Network & Communications Management, Telecommunications or closely related field with 18+ earned graduate credit hours directly in the field of instruction is required
  • Prior higher education teaching experience is preferred
  • Faculty must have requisite subject matter expertise and outstanding communication skills
  • Faculty must also have excellent motivational and instructional skills in a diverse and non-traditional environment
  • Must be able to work in a collegial manner and facilitate the efforts of diverse groups
