Instructional Designer | LX Analyst

Position Information

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Academic Engagement (, the Instructional Designer | LX Analyst will serve as a practice expert in the use of instructional design models and strategies; perform as a technical specialist in the adaptation of emerging educational technologies; and act as a liaison with the larger campus community, particularly in translating classroom teaching practices into student-centered, active, authentic, and connected learning experiences. In this capacity, the Instructional Designer | LX Analyst will work individually, and in cross-functional teams, to help facilitate high impact online/hybrid projects and programs that align with the UCR 2020 Strategic Plan goals of Academic Excellence, Access, Diversity, and Engagement. This is a one-year contract appointment with the possibility of being extended should additional grant funding be awarded.

Minimum Requirements

Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems.
Thorough knowledge of the technical tools and platforms required to achieve the delivery of engaging and media-rich online learning content, and of trends in the use and effectiveness of educational technology and learning.
Thorough knowledge of functional area and understands how work within one course may impact work being done on other courses or in other areas.
Thorough knowledge of e-learning strategies including but not limited to courses (e.g., processes and technologies, etc.).
Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
Thorough knowledge of applying adult learning theories and educational methodologies.
Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and strong collaboration and negotiation skills.
Thorough knowledge of instructional design principles and learning strategies, including needs analysis, backwards design, learning outcomes and assessment design, and instructional approaches including lecture, discussion, activities, projects, etc.
Advanced level skills in application of planning, resourcing and monitoring of effective design life cycles of training and other learning and performance solutions to support the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge to conduct appropriate job and task analyses in the context of instructional design of technical or specialized training.

Thorough knowledge of organization policies and procedures, including policies that impact online course development.

Strong facilitation, mentoring, and/or consulting skills in support of a learning organization.

Knowledge of systems thinking and/or design thinking as it relates to a learning organization.

Knowledge of adaptive learning technologies, platforms and/or analytics.

Knowledge of Open Education Resources (OER) and best practices.

Skills in 3D animation, AR/VR, gaming, and/or app development.
