RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as a direct report to the Assistant to the President in the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance. The Deputy Title VI EEO/AA Coordinator (Deputy Coordinator) will play an important role in the University’s education, prevention and response efforts related to Title VI and other EEO/AA issues and help foster and maintain a campus environment free from all forms of discrimination, harassment and violence. The Deputy Coordinator will serve as MTSU’s primary Title VI and EEO/AA investigator; responsible to conduct investigations related to all reported allegations of discrimination and harassment of race, color, national origin, age, religion, disability, veteran status and other legally protected categories. The incumbent will prepare detailed written reports and assist the Title VI Coordinator/Assistant to the President with the development and implementation of training programs for faculty, staff and students on discrimination, harassment, diversity and inclusion issues; assist with the University’s Affirmative Action Plan and the hiring review process through the applicant tracking system. The Deputy Coordinator will collaborate with other University constituencies that include but are not limited to: the University Police, University Counsel, Student Affairs, Faculty, Students and Administration for consultation and investigation purposes as necessary. The incumbent will promote awareness and inclusion initiatives to the university community and perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and four (4) years progressively responsible demonstrated experience conducting investigations alleging discrimination based on or equivalent experience in conducting investigations of Title VI, race, color, national origin, age, religion, disability, veteran status and other legally protected categories alleging discrimination, harassment and retaliation. Some knowledge of higher education policies and procedures, etc.


SALARY RANGE:  Commensurate with experience
