Position Summary:
This is a tenure track position in the Department of Languages, Philosophy & Communication Studies at Utah State University. We invite applications for an Assistant Professor position of Communication Studies. Responsibilities:

  1. Teach a variety of Communication Studies courses.
  2. Conduct and publish scholarly research in topics related to global communication and culture and communication.
  3. Serve on various departmental committees as needed.
  4. Advise and mentor students, particularly in the Global Communication program.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Doctorate in Communication or a related field completed by August 13, 2018;
  2. Demonstrated ability to conduct research and publish scholarly research;
  3. Demonstrated ability to effectively teach a variety of courses;
  4. Ability and willingness to mentor undergraduate students;
  5. Satisfactory background check per university policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Expertise in issues surrounding global communication, potentially including such issues as diplomacy, international negotiation, communication and human rights, intercultural conflict, international conflict, etc.
  2. Expertise in rhetorical research methods and an interest in teaching courses grounded in rhetorical theory.
  3. Ability to compliment, enrich and extend the current strengths of the department, especially our Global Communication major.
